About Us
I'm Steve Belanger, the company owner. I started my renovation business in 1985, after deciding to leave a rewarding career in human services.
While a Psychology Major at Colby College in Maine, I became interested in woodworking and carpentry as a hobby, never envisioning it would become my life's work.
In the beginning, I did a handful of small jobs for friends and co-workers, discovering that I had a talent for carpentry in addition to a love of working in the "concrete", three dimensional world.
My business blossomed quickly during the "building boom" of mid '80's. As I took on larger, more complicated projects, I developed my skills as a general contractor, designer, and manager.
Today, my business consists of one or two other skilled carpenters and a group of well-established subcontractors. This smaller sized business helps keep my overhead costs low and maintains the flexibility to add or subtract workers as needed, depending on the size of the job. Unlike many other general contractors, you'll find me on the job nearly every day working as the "lead"carpenter. From demolition to finish carpentry, I believe it is important to be intimately involved in every phase of my projects.
